How To Promote FMCG Products Using Digital Marketing.

How To Create A Dynamic FMCG Marketing Strategy.

This FCMG Marketing strategy is dynamic and designed for Food companies that are introducing or creating product awareness for their New product in the market. I will share my approach and marketing strategy for mapping out the level of prospective consumers for the product using different digital marketing approaches.

For illustration purposes, I will not use the company's name or brand but will share my FMCG marketing strategy used to help them gain traction in the market. We kicked off intending to promote two basic new products of the company, they are consumable and are used as part of spicy, flavor, and aroma cooking.

The first idea that came to mind was to create a Food channel, why I suggested this since they already have in existence food products that are fast consumable goods eg Flour meals, ofada rice, etc. This set of food products can be used to further bring out the essence of the main two spicy and aroma products.

Secondly, with a food channel, we can easily build a community of like-minded targeted audiences organically, if the content is unique and good, not denying the fact that there are already thousands of such channels out there.

The following was how I prepared my proposal for the food company and my ideal approach to marketing their new products and adding their existing products as a ride-along as well.

  2. Increase Visibility and Audience Reach

PREAMBLE

XYZ Foods Limited can utilize the internet to generate the aforementioned objectives of this proposal with over 100 million Nigerians online and can go through several online mediums to target 1% of the FMCG prospects.

We provide the following proposed online Strategies for marketing XYZ Foods Limited brand products to attain our proposed goals;

Food Channel Strategy

Using a food channel strategy will help us to build an audience organically even after our paid adverts have expired, also it will likewise serve as permanent content on the designated social media we decide to utilize for the campaign. The following are the channel objectives:

Unique Content

We are aware of numerous food channels on the web, but we will use this method to build influencer reach for the product by cooking and dishing indigenous and continental meals of special recipes.

Lead Prospecting

This will help build a database of targeted audiences we can retarget, retain, and build loyal customers.

Organic Reach

The use of videos and image banners for advertising can only go so far in building awareness for the products, but it does not have to end there, we can capitalize on the audience reach of the videos created on social media platforms to grow organic reach as well.

Intermission Ads

With the use of a corporate food channel, we can easily place it in our video ads as well, since the content of the videos is permanent we can use it as a medium to still serve our audiences with the product ads (interludes).

Sales Funnel Strategy

After defining your goals with the food channel creation, you need a sales funnel template that will suit your marketing idea, every digital marketer has their dynamic or approach to achieving the same goal with the next counterpart, but the amount of results you get depends on how effective your choice of marketing strategy you adopt.

Acquisition Stage

We would suggest the use of Google Banner Ads, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram as our major channels for generating traffic. Sending this targetted traffic to our product landing page, it could be the product e-commerce product page or a specially designed page designated for the campaign (recommended).

Activation Stage

We will encourage the creation of an exclusive landing page for this campaign which will focus on the introduction of the two products “X PRODUCT” and “Y PRODUCT” and capture users that would like to order and likewise subscribe to the Food channel.

Retention Stage

This is where the Food channel and WhatsApp come in handy. They will help provide information about the need and use of the product and serve as a channel to sensitize people to the product and how to order in bulk. A great choice will be the use of WhatsApp Channel for broadcasting and creating updates, with WhatsApp you are more direct with communication and can easily contact your target audiences eg Telemarketing, send special offers, etc.

Referral Stage

At this stage, our concern will be at growing a trend or a hashtag for the products e.g. #hashtag #xyz which when searched on social media outlets this searches should be traced back to the company. The growth we will be aiming at is to grow our audience. Having our existing audience share referral links, etc.

Revenue Stage

After successfully executing each stage above, we will focus on increasing conversion, offering discounts and distributorship deals (This will be based on individual questionnaires).

The campaign proposal and marketing strategy explained above should be run for three months with two months dedicated to paid ads and the third month will be used for organic growth, after the successful execution of the campaign, you should be able to establish awareness, lead management and prospective sales of the product.

Conclusion

If you follow the simple layout I explained above you can incorporate this simple concept into your FMCG marketing strategy and optimize your goals, as a digital marketer you will be faced with a lot of issues with your mapped-out schemes. It is up to you to have other alternatives and approaches you can deploy to get through. Understand your product, understand what your client wants, understand the environment or situation your client product is (challenges both micro and macro), then focus on providing long-lasting solutions and not just a quick fix.
