One of the best ways to retain or get new clients is via email marketing, and with it's successful rate hence the reason why you have a lot of unsolicited emails promotions. This is due to the fact that some internet marketers or business owners are being fleeced to buy email list by companies offering email marketing services. Most sites that promote the purchase of business email list for email campaigns are only interested in the resale of generated emails that are mostly not targeted.
Apart from a bad online reputation your website will get, you will also be wasting money after purchasing such email list as this emails will end up with a lower open rate and your money for setting up email campaign will not yield a tangible return. I will prefer to build email list rather than buy list of email addresses.

On the post I showed some data result analyzing the click through rates and responds by the emails purchased for our client. I did rather say we were not able to generate enough sales to cover the cost of our email marketing campaign, even with the quantity of bulk emails that were blasted we only ended up with 1% queries that only generated very few sales.
This is the same faith that lyes in wait with anybody or marketer that believes in buying business emails. Now that I have explained the facts about buying email list why don't we look at how to build a safe list with opt in form.
I will share with you how I actually grew my option in email list with a simple squeeze page that only had 3 forms input, which included email, name and whatsapp number...yes whatsapp number (will explain in details why this form field is very crucial in build your safe list).
But first let's talk about the squeeze page. The squeeze page was actually engineered to help me optimize my social reach, the strategy was built around Facebook Marketing, So the first thing I had to do was to make sure that I leverage the referral traffic I got from my paid advert on Facebook and organic reach like wise via Fan page and group posting.

I needed a fast loading squeeze page and landing page, that is highly responsive and needed to reduce content on the squeeze page but provided content in ways of video, which I definitely knew most wouldn't play.
I created a form that was secured from hijacking, ie people trying to game the form without submitting anything, and the first layer of security was to provide a social lock which main role was to get every visit to the squeeze page to share the page in order to unlock the submission form.
The submission form had 3 secured input forms that had rules of submission, which included typing in the right email format, name and the correct number input for the country I was targeting.
Lastly I implemented an intent exit pop up window with an incentive message, which had more success in returning the visitors back as some list that contacted me where asking for the incentive itself.
Finally I had to look at the landing page ie. The thank you page, first I need to secure the landing page so that it couldn't be access directly and also to personalize it enough to carry both the name of the web visitor that submitted the form, the date, the day, and the period of the day the form was submitted. Not to forget the request for the web visitors to send a message to me via whatsapp, even though I already received alerts immediately whenever they submit the form submission.
The fact that I immediately responded to my targeted audience has they submitted increased my conversion rate, when I said immediately responded to them, I meant immediately responded via their whatsapp number and added them up into a group I created for the campaign itself which has grown as of this writing to an active 55 Whatsapp members! and currently I am still running the campaign, fine tuning it to reach a more precise age bracket.
The Real Cost of Building a Safe Email List
Now most email marketers will tell you its quite expensive to build email list of opt in emails, but with our experiment we have actually been able to build a very responsive email, although we had a very few number of safe email list, but lets consider the worth. Now am going to use a random email marketing services provider website I got via Google that sell business email list with a very low cost offer of 1000 emails for $1.
Now the thing with this email offer is this, it's not unique neither is it tailored to your business, and I can promise you this you just wasted $1 and will soon be smooth talked into buying one of their jumbo pack for a poor email marketing services.
These tactics is no different from buying traffic from traffic generation site, funny if you will try to build email list via sites that sells traffic rather than traffic generating sites like Google, Facebook etc. You can read more on the topic Stop Buying Traffic For Your Website. If the emails are so good then why do they sell them at cheap prices? same with cheap website traffic? well the thing is cheap sells all the time, same with FREE... this two converts easily and most people are easily bait with such offers.
So back to our topic, so $1 is not a big deal as the main course is for you to buy their bigger plans. I actually bought such business email proposal for one of my client and the results where actually of 0.7% to 1.7% click through rates and all with respect to the changes made to the subject headline, if you read through the post you will observer that the bought email was the worst! All the conversion it had was very poor and also we weren't actually able to make a sale via that list. Now let's analyze our own results, so from the image below I have spent close to $27 in advert, and my goal is to target people interested in the work from home niche.
Already the post have gotten some awesome advert optimization results. First we had 15,720 reached audience with 613 click through rates and this gave us a 3.89% conversion rate.
So now out of this quantity that visited the site, only 247 visitors that executed one of our goals, as seen from the image below.
The goal was for them to share the url on their wall so as to leverage our advert placement on Facebook, and then unlock the submission form. I also provided a waiting time of 5 minutes which am certain most of them ignored and used their Facebook to unlock the form.
Now from 613 Facebook referral visit we have only 247 url shared activity (first goal) this meant that we had a conversion rate of 40.29%, now to check for the main goal (which is form submission) we had 66 form submissions out of 247 unlocked social shares, which means we had a conversion rate of 26.7% and has seen in the image below.
From this I had to keep 55 users with whom their whatsapp numbers are actually active, so to give and take I will say the same for the emails submitted.
But the idea of the whatsapp number was so good I was able to convert this 55 signups as prospects and got 10 of them to make an immediate purchase at a minimum cost of $10 each. If am to do the math right that meant I had made $100 instantly while the rest are still under my customer relation management via whatsapp I can communicate with them, provide other offers, and even provide free consultation services too.
At the end this few number had a better conversion of sales than simply purchasing bulk emails and blasting to none targeted audience...and only converting 1 or 2 with alot of unsubscribe activities within a week.
But with the whatsapp marketing strategy I was able to reduce the cost of sending bulk emails, or launching an sms campaign that would have cost me extra money.
Currently I have been able to review my Facebook campaign and re-define my metrics to target the most responsive age bracket and grow my conversion rate for the main goal of form submission (main goal). Another thing I noted was that I had more referral traffic via mobile audience, and reviewed my analytics with respect to website performance index as shown in the images below.
After viewing this results I now had to refined my Facebook advert to focus only the age bracket that had more engagements ie 25 to 45 and to see which placement performed better I had to cross check the squeeze page web performance in terms of bounce rate and average time spent. So compare this results with you purchasing bulk emails you will realize that you end up spending more and also wasting money with out strategizing a better way out. I have 55 leads that are ready to become buyers/customers compared to having 1000 emails for $1 that are going to be used by 1000 buyers like you and zero returns, worst you may receive a penalty for spam and get your domain (all things associated to it) blacked listed on sites like spamhaus.org
4 Crucial Things You Need To Do To Build your List
Online marketing may have developed a sudden surge these past few years, but many in the know how have felt its rise even from way then. 4) Keep a clean and private list. Never lose the trust your customers have entrusted you. If you provide e-mails to others and they get spammed, many will probably unsubscribe to you.
